If you've ever watched an action-adventure film like Indiana Jones or Tarzan, you have seen lianas. This name is given to (usually) woody vines that grow in the ground and climb up trees so they can reach the sunlight. Lianas are usually associated with rainforests and other tropical locations, but there are also lianas found in cooler regions.
