Photographer's Note
The tablelands in north Queensland are up to 1600 m above sea level and home to some protected rainforest islands. In a tropical rainforest the rich soil is very thin and light is only available for the tallest plants. For these reasons some huge gum trees spread their extremely solid build roots on the surface and grow up to 80 meters in order to see the sun and resist the heavy cyclone winds from November to March.
