Middle School Temperate Rain Forest Food Chain: A food chain shows how each living thing gets energy from food and passes that along to other specie. A food web shows how plants and animals are interconnected. Mild temperatures in the rain forest allow seasonal changes in the reproductive cycles of plants and wildlife. Primary producers are plants that include mosses, grasses, wildflowers, and mushrooms on the floor of the rain forest. Scavengers feed on the dead leaves, twigs, and needles. Consumers are small animals, insects, chipmunks, squirrels, deer and elk. There are other consumers though; find out who they are here.
